Houston Area Wedding – Galveston Wedding Photographer
When Brandon contacted us about documenting his wedding day, I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of it. His love for TJ was evident in the words he typed and I’m pretty sure I teared up as I read this…
“The church youth group she was working for came down to partner with the non-profit I work for. It took about a year for me to see it but her kindness and grace just overwhelmed me. Eventually she asked me out and I told her no (facepalm)! I just thought I wasn’t good enough for her. Then one night we were driving down the seawall in Galveston listening to “Beautiful War” by King’s of Leon and she was singing at the top of her lungs. I fell in love with her then and there. There was such a wildness in her, a veracity for life, that I just wanted to be a part of that. We decided that the only way we would date is if it would lead to marriage. Five months later we’re planning a wedding! I know it seems fast to most, but I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life. She is my best friend and my partner. We’ve wrestled with some hard issues, had some hard conversations, but when it’s all said and done there’s no one I would rather have walk beside me through this crazy life. She’s “mi costilla”, or my rib. She helps me be all that God calls me to be.”
They said they wanted the wedding to be their love letter to their community as well as their community’s love letter to them. I couldn’t describe it any other way. It was beautiful and quirky and such a sweet love letter. I’ve never cried so many times at a wedding. The icing on the cake was when Brandon and TJ prayed over me and my ministry as a photographer. The bride and groom took time out of their own wedding reception to pray for me. It was a bit overwhelming and completely humbling. It’s a moment frozen in time and I love these two so much for their hearts and the way Jesus shines through their lives.
Thanks to Cassidy Matlock for being my second shooter and killing it! She has such a unique eye and was always seeing pockets of light that I was too busy to see. I am so grateful for her help and creativity on such an important day!
Brandon and TJ, thank you for trusting me to document such an important day for you. I truly loved every minute. I can’t wait to catch up over a cup of tea. 😉
