Beach Portraits in Gulf Shores, Al
When you vacation on Alabama’s beautiful coast (Yes, Alabama has beaches — great ones, in fact!) I hope you book a beach portrait session for your family. The sugary white sand and warm blue water makes for the perfect playground for you and your family. I do have a few little tips for your portrait session if you’re interested. If not, just scroll down and see this awesome family that I love photographing so much.
April’s “less cheesy beach photography” tips:
1. Choose a sunrise session if at all possible. It’s just better. Better lighting, less crowded, cooler temps, and your kids will be in a better mood.
2. Dress like you’re going to dinner and a movie. Keep it casual. You guys don’t have to get all dressed up in white. Boys, you DO NOT have to wear solid polos. Those aren’t the beach photography rules. I don’t know why or when this has happened but you don’t have to do that. In fact, try not to look like you’re in some kind of family uniform. If you’re afraid of clashing, maybe do muted greys, navy blue, and add some denim.
3. Relax. This is the most important part. Parents, try not to stress about getting good portraits. It actually makes it worse. The kids know that you are stressed and it shows in photos as well. Just walk on the beach with the intention of having a great time with your family. Who knows, maybe you’ll forget for a few minutes that you are having pictures taken. If that happens, the magic happens and you will be incredibly pleased with your results.
My favorite comment from families or couples that I work with is “We trust you.” Thank you for that, guys. I love you all.
